Laguiole en Aubrac Eclipse Luxury Multipurpose Knife, 4.8-in (12cm), Bog Oak Handle, With Two Brass Plates, And Handcarved Spring
$549.95
- This striking tricolor knife—featuring black, brass, and silver—joins our collection of art knives. Its standout feature is the exceptionally fine hand-carved work, blending symmetrical curves, floral motifs, and detailed engravings.
- The blade is crafted from high-quality 12c27 Sandvik stainless steel, ensuring resistance to corrosion and exceptional longevity. The blade measures 4 inches (12 cm) in length.
- Each knife is handmade by a single artisan, using authentic materials. No two pieces are identical, thanks to the unique properties of the materials selected. Only the highest quality standards of Laguiole en Aubrac are followed. The ‘Éclipse’ knife combines three distinctive elements: a Morta (Bog Oak) wood handle, a stainless-steel spring, and brass plates. Together, these represent Earth, Moon, and Sun, the celestial bodies that shape our world.
- The Earth is symbolized by Morta, a rare and historically significant wood. Over 5,000 years, oak trunks buried in peat undergo a fossilization process, absorbing silica and gaining remarkable strength and durability. At the heart of the knife, the bee and spring shine in silver, reminiscent of the Moon. Every detail of the design, from the hand-carved curves to the delicate engravings, showcases exceptional craftsmanship. The brass plates, glowing golden, evoke the radiance of the Sun, with their rays symbolizing the eclipse. Three golden flowers, set with small diamonds, complete this extraordinary piece.
- The spring is meticulously polished on the inside and forged as one piece with a bee design. The bee is forged into the polished stainless steel bolster, with the classic brass shepherd’s cross typical of Laguiole knives.
- This knife is handcrafted in the Laguiole region of Aubrac, France, and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
