Hand Carved Plate Collection
Every Laguiole en Aubrac knife carries the mark of the artisan, but the Hand Carved Plate collection puts that work front and center. Each bolster is individually hand-carved by a skilled artisan — real engraving, cut by hand, not stamped or machine-etched. The result is a knife with genuine, hand-finished detail throughout, built to be carried and used for years to come.
The Bee
The bee on this piece is compact and precise: cross-hatched, textured wings folded close against a narrow, bow-shaped body, hand-finished at the pivot where blade meets handle. You can see the texture work catch light differently depending on the angle — the mark of an actual tool in an actual hand, not a stamped emblem.
A Handle Worth a Second Look
This knife is fitted with a handle of Royal Ebony, a dense, striking hardwood prized for the dramatic contrast running through its grain. Rather than a flat, uniform black, the wood shows natural streaks of warm tan and gold woven through the darker base — no two handles will show quite the same pattern. It's a heavier, denser wood than most handle materials, which gives the knife a substantial, grounded feel in hand, and a finish that darkens and deepens in character the more it's used.
A Hand-Carved Spine
Running the length of the spine is a hand-engraved leaf-and-chevron pattern, cut directly into the bolster. It's real hand engraving, worked by a skilled artisan rather than reproduced by machine — a genuine point of craftsmanship you can see and feel in the piece itself.
